Grid view

Watch chats and terminals from different workspaces side by side.

The grid view shows chats and terminals from different workspaces at the same time. Use it when several agents work in parallel and you want to see all of them.

Open the grid

Click Grid in the sidebar, or press ⌘G.

To pick a layout, click the layout button at the top right. The layouts are 2×1 (two panes side by side), 1×2 (two panes on top of each other) and 2×2 (four panes).

Put a chat or a terminal in a pane

  • Drag a workspace from the sidebar onto a pane.
  • Or click Choose workspace in an empty pane.

The pane shows the chat or terminal tab you used last in that workspace. If another pane already shows that tab, the pane shows the next chat or terminal of the workspace. If other panes show all of them, the pane starts a new chat. To show a different chat or terminal of the same workspace, click its name in the pane header. In that menu, New chat, New terminal, Claude Code in a terminal and Codex in a terminal open a new tab in the pane.

A pane terminal is the same terminal as the tab in the full view. It keeps running when you switch between the grid and the full view.

Ask in a pane

Drag an Ask chat from the sidebar onto a pane. Or click Ask in an empty pane, then click New ask to ask a new question, or click a recent Ask chat to show it. A new ask shows the repository picker and the composer in the pane. When you send the question, the pane shows the answer.

Open in full view on an Ask pane opens the Ask page, where Start workspace continues the conversation in a new workspace.

One pane per chat

A chat, a terminal or an Ask chat shows in one pane at most. If you pick it for a second pane, it leaves the first one.

Work in a pane

Click a pane to focus it. The focused pane has a blue border, and the sidebar highlights its workspace or Ask chat. The keyboard shortcuts work on the focused pane:

  • ⌘L focuses its composer.
  • ⌘T starts a new chat in it, if it shows a workspace.
  • ⌘W removes it from the grid. The chat or terminal stays open in its workspace.
  • ⌘⇧P, ⌘⇧X and ⌘⇧⌫ work on its workspace and chat.

Go to the full workspace

Click Open in full view in the pane header. The workspace opens on that chat or terminal, with its tabs, the Changes panel and the terminal panel. Press ⌘G to go back to the grid.

When you click a file or a diff in a pane, the workspace also opens in the full view.

A click on a workspace in the sidebar always opens the full view. Only a drag puts it in a pane.
