Hands-free mode

Talk to Korev and hear when an agent needs you, without the keyboard.

In hands-free mode, Korev listens to the microphone all the time. Start a sentence with "Korev" and Korev does what you say, then answers out loud. When an agent asks a question, has a plan ready, wants to run a tool, or finishes, Korev says so. You can keep playing a game or cooking while your agents work.

Turn it on

  1. Do one of these:
    • Press ⌘⇧H.
    • Click the microphone at the top of the sidebar.
    • Open the command palette (⌘K) and pick Hands-free mode.
    • Pick Chat → Toggle Hands-Free Mode in the menu bar.
  2. The first time, Korev asks to download the voice model of 550 MB. Hands-free mode starts when the download finishes. If you already use voice input, the model is already there.
  3. Allow Korev to use the microphone if macOS asks.

While Korev listens, the sidebar button shows a sound wave. Do the same thing again to turn it off. Korev always starts with hands-free mode off.

Talk to it

Start each sentence with "Korev". Korev ignores everything else, such as game audio or people in the room. For example:

  • "Korev, create a new workspace on the acme-web repo to plan a login page."
  • "Korev, option two."
  • "Korev, approve the plan."
  • "Korev, open billing."
  • "Korev, what did billing say?"
  • "Korev, stop."

You can also say only "Korev" and wait for the chime. Then say the command, without "Korev", within 8 seconds.

When you do not say which workspace, Korev uses the last one it told you about, or the last one you opened. So after "login asks: Which database?", "Korev, option two" answers that question.

Korev changes what is on screen only when you ask, such as with "Korev, open billing".

See that Korev hears you

When Korev hears "Korev", a colored wave shows at the bottom of the screen, over every app. The wave moves slowly while Korev works out what you said, moves with your voice while it waits for your command after the chime, and moves faster while Korev speaks. It goes away when Korev is done. If you say "Korev" and the wave does not show, Korev did not hear its name. Say it again.

What Korev says

  • A question, with its options: "login asks: Which database? Option 1, Postgres. Option 2, SQLite."
  • A plan that is ready, a tool that waits for your approval, and a turn that finished or failed.
  • The answer to each command.

Korev does not listen while it speaks, so it does not hear itself.

Limits

  • Korev understands each sentence with a quick call to Claude Haiku, so hands-free mode needs the claude CLI, even when your agent is Codex. It takes about 2 to 4 seconds from the end of your sentence to the action.
  • You cannot interrupt Korev while it speaks.
  • You cannot archive, merge or delete by voice.
  • While hands-free mode is on, your Mac does not go to sleep.
